Not long ago, I grabbed my video camera and took on the incredible challenge of keeping up with the world’s most successful pro fitness competitor, Adela Garcia.

I began filming Adela’s workouts, fitness routine practice, and lots of behind the scenes stuff. We knew we were on to something special!
We knew we were going to create a DVD but we didn’t know exactly what type of DVD.
Would it be a workout DVD?
Or a reality type DVD?
Or would it become a series of DVDs?
I didn’t know but I knew I had to film Adela.
She was on the rise in the fitness industry, having won multiple titles such as the Fitness Olympia and the Fitness International titles.
Congrats to 2012 Fitness Olympia Winner, Adela Garcia!
Everything was moving along beautifully, Adela was on schedule to win her next Fitness Olympia and she was healthy and happy.
But then, out of nowhere, tragedy struck!
It was just another day of practice.
She landed wrong. Something bent and twisted in a way that the human body is not supposed to bend.
It was Adela’s knee. She had torn ligament.
In a split second everything changed for Adela.
No more training, no practice, no gymnastics, no guest appearances.
“Chica Latina” couldn’t even walk.
The filming stopped.
Everything stopped.
Adela, Mike and I shelved the project.
We stopped communicating with each other as we were now busy with other priorities.
We didn’t have a story anymore.
Or did we…
After the shock of the knee injury began to slowly go away we began to think more clearly.
We realized the knee injury and her comeback attempt
WAS OUR STORY.

We were on again!
And so what could have been a workout dvd turned into:
Adela Garcia’s physical and mental struggle to regain what she had lost.
Her ability to walk, her self confidence, self identity and believe it or not, her friends.
You really do find out who you’re friends are when you’ve gone through tough times. But none of that could stop her.
